In this post I will be trying to highlight some albums I will be buying and checking out, as well maybe potential ‘back burner’ albums – those which I might check out later on.
Auroch – Mute Books
Canadian death metal band to release their sophomore album after releasing Taman Shud in 2014. I don’t know much about this band but found their bandcamp site through a quick Google search. Had a listen to two tracks available and I decided to highlight the former, “He Wreaths The Cross”. Have a listen below:
Korn – The Serenity of Suffering
The latest — and 12th (!!) — album from the “new metal” masters. This is their second album with Brian “Head” Welch back in the band. Given that there were four singles released — “Insane”, “Rotting In Vain”, “A Different World” (featuring Corey Taylor) and, most recently, “Take Me” — this is shaping up to another fine addition to the Korn catalogue.
Obituary – Ten Thousand Ways To Die (Single)
Legendary American death metal band to release a single whilst the band working on new material tentatively scheduled for next year. The single will also include a “live set of twelve classics and fan [sic] favorites recorded in eleven different cities on the Inked In Blood World tour”. They’ve put a new song called “Loathe”. Given it a listen below:
Pantera – The Great Southern Trendkill (20th Anniversary Edition)
I always get the feeling that reissues and anniversary editions are merely just a cash cow for the label – “oh let’s re-release the album with some ‘added’ bonuses”. However, saying that, in my hypocrisy I have bought all the remasters/reissues that have been released thus far. It will contain a bonus entitled “The Great Southern Outtakes” (inset below picture) which will be released on LP individually. The original album will also be remastered.
Pallbearer – Fear and Fury EP [12″ Vinyl]
American doom metal band released their second (or sophomore to you Yanks) album, Foundations of Burden, in 2014. Soon about to tour with Baroness but, through social media, told us that they were in the studio recording some new material. Lo and behold! The band are now currently streaming a surprise EP – Fear And The Fury – containing an original song, a cover of Black Sabbath’s “Over And Over”, and Type O Negative’s “Love You To Death”. The digital download is out now, but I’ll probably go for the LP which is out today. Listen to it below:
